Coffee morning for macmillan cancer support

Last month, on the 27th September between the hours of 10:00 am and 12:00 pm, West Midlands House hosted their annual Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity providing expert advice and a listening ear to anyone currently facing cancer or surrounded by someone who is.

Every penny donated throughout the duration of the day was to go towards the essentials required in order to offer this support, from something as simple as a one to one session with a nurse, to being able to purchase appliances so everyday tasks such as cooking a meal can be made so much more accessible and easier for someone who truly needs it.

With this hitting home for many, as well as being such a prominent issue, we were glad to see so many of our clients get involved with the Event in any way they could, whether through donating money to the cause, or baking cakes to add to our selection, which would later on be taste tested and judged by visitors with the hopes of picking a winner for our ‘Star Baker’ of the day award!

The Coffee Morning itself went down without a hitch, with people constantly walking in and out of our XChange Meeting Room, cake and hot drinks being enjoyed by all, and conversation unfurling in every corner.

On offer in the room, was a vast selection of cake and baked goods, including some British favourites, but all of which receiving the praise they deserved.

Over the course of the two hour period, the competition for ‘Star Baker’ became more heated, with people becoming truly invested in who made which cake and deciding upon which to vote for as their personal winner at the end of it all.

At the end of the morning, after most of the cakes had gone, the West Midlands House Team collected in all of the votes sent in to count up and afterwards announce your bake off champions!

After much deliberation and many tasty slices of cake eaten, it was decided by our dedicated attendees that our winners would be Matt of MAG Solicitors with his Tiramisu and Suzanne of Haoma UK with her fantastic Victoria Sponge. Congratulations to both!

Finally, we would like to conclude by saying a HUGE thank you for helping us raise £239.58 for Macmillan and hope you all had a great time!
